Securantis how-to guide

Purpose of this article

This guide explains how to activate a Securantis license and link it to your site's domain, which statuses you will see in the interface, and how to properly detach a site when needed. Sections distinguish behavior for WordPress/WooCommerce and for PrestaShop to avoid confusion.

General prerequisites

  • Have a Securantis account and at least one available license. - Administrator access to the CMS back office (WordPress or PrestaShop). - Outbound connection from the server to the Securantis SaaS (standard HTTP/HTTPS ports). - Never share your password by email or chat.

What happens on activation

  • Your site's domain is detected automatically and suggested as the linked domain. - An encrypted agent token is generated and stored locally to authenticate exchanges with the SaaS. - The license used becomes associated with that domain in your Securantis account. - The plugin/module activates protection (WAF observation/filtering, scans, notifications) according to your plan and configuration.

Activation and linking — steps (applicable to all platforms)

  1. Prepare the license key provided at purchase. It follows the format received by email from Securantis.
  2. Open the Securantis License page in your site's back office:
    • WordPress: Securantis menu → Licence (or the plugin administrative screen).
    • PrestaShop: Securantis module screen → Licence in the back office.
  3. Verify the detected domain shown by the interface; confirm that it is the site's primary domain.
  4. Enter the license key and confirm activation. The plugin/module will send the request to the SaaS and, on success, store an encrypted token locally.
  5. After activation you will see a status “Active” or equivalent and masked information such as the partially hidden key, the linked domain, the license UUID and the site UUID.

Expected result

  • Status: Protection active (or equivalent wording).
  • Visible information: masked key, linked domain, unique identifiers (UUID).
  • Main functions (scanner, WAF, alerts) start to run according to configuration; reports and logs are synchronized to the SaaS.

Rules and precautions

  • One license protects a single domain. Do not try to activate the same key on multiple domains without updating the contract.
  • The agent token is stored encrypted locally; keep administrator access but do not disclose this token.
  • Actions on detected files (quarantine, deletion, restoration) always require your manual confirmation; Securantis reports and suggests, but does not automatically perform permanent deletion.

Platform-specific behaviors

WordPress / WooCommerce

  • The license screen shows the detected domain and the activation form. After activation, the table displays the masked key, the linked domain and the UUIDs.
  • If you use WooCommerce, additional controls (gateway security, specific settings) may be shown on dedicated pages.
  • The plugin schedules tasks such as heartbeat, daily scan and retention cleanups. Ensure PHP cron tasks or WP-Cron are working to guarantee regular syncs.

PrestaShop (1.7 to 9)

  • The PrestaShop module provides a module configuration page where you enter the key. The interface and wording may differ: look for the "Licence" section or the service connection tab.
  • As on WordPress, the referenced domain will be the one detected by the module. Verify the presence of an encrypted token server-side after activation if you have file access (this is an advanced check, not required for most users).

Common errors and troubleshooting

  1. Activation failure: connection error to the SaaS
    • Check outbound connectivity (hosting firewall / network rule).
    • Ensure the server clock is correct (TLS certificates).
    • Re-enter the key (respect the format and do not add spaces).
  2. Incorrect detected domain
    • Some multi-domain sites or those behind a reverse proxy may have the proxy's public domain detected. Check header configuration (X-Forwarded-Host) or use the site's main public URL to access the back office.
    • Contact support if the registered domain no longer matches your current domain and you cannot correct it from the SaaS interface.
  3. License already used on another site
    • Check in your Securantis account the sites currently linked to the license. If you need to move the license, properly detach the old installation (see below) or contact support for reassignment assistance if you no longer have access to the old site.
  4. Features inactive after activation
    • Confirm the plugin/module is up to date and that scheduled tasks (cron/heartbeat) are running.
    • Check the security logs in the back office and the SaaS space to verify report synchronization.

How to properly detach a site (free the license)

  1. From the site to detach: open the License page and look for the disconnect/detach option (or the option to “disable the connection to the SaaS”). If available, run it: it will revoke the token locally and report the detachment to the SaaS.
  2. If you no longer have access to the site: log in to your Securantis account (SaaS) and remove the site linked to the license from license/site management, or contact support if the interface does not offer the action.
  3. After detachment, the license becomes available to be activated on another domain. Verify that the local token was removed and that the plugin/module state returns to configuration mode.

Security best practices

  • Enable 2FA on your Securantis account and use CAPTCHA/2FA on the site's administration forms when possible.
  • Keep a recent backup before changing a license association or applying actions on detected files.
  • For any intervention requiring administrator access to be sent to support, follow the paid procedure: access is provided only via the secure client area after payment.

When to contact support

Contact Securantis support if:

  • You cannot activate a license despite valid network connectivity.
  • The license appears linked to a domain you no longer control and you cannot detach it.
  • Server/TLS errors prevent communication and you cannot correct the system clock or certificates.
  • You suspect a compromise and need assisted intervention (note: quarantine/removal actions remain under your control; support can assist for a paid intervention if needed).

Security and compliance reminders

  • Securantis does not perform automatic malware removal without human confirmation.
  • Never send passwords by email or chat.
  • Access requested for paid assistance is provided only via the secure client area and after payment.

If you need immediate help, gather the following information before contacting support: license key, exact domain displayed, screenshot of the status in the back office, and the error messages encountered.
